Paula Roth to new position at The Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN)
2020-09-10
On the 29th of May, Paula Roth defended her thesis, Essays on Inequality, Insolvency and Innovation, on how households and individuals are affected by income inequality, with a focus on consumption and saving decisions. A few days after obtaining her PhD, she started her new postdoc position at The Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN).

Congratulations on your new position, Paula! What will you be doing?
Thank you! I am doing a postdoc at IFN, where I will spend most of my time working on a project where we apply distributional national accounts (DINA) methodology to match individual register data with macroeconomic totals from the national accounts and thereby compute new estimates of pre- and post-tax/transfer distributions of income and wealth in Sweden. I will also continue working on projects that I started as a PhD student.
What do you think that your earlier research, and your time at UU will bring to your new job?
Since my previous research focused on questions related to income inequality, this project feels very relevant and important. I worked a lot with micro data during my PhD and I could not have done my current job without that experience.
What are you looking forward to in particular in your new job?
I look forward to learning new things!
