Lindahl lectures

Erik Lindahl (1891–1960) was a Professor of Economics at Uppsala University 1942–1958. In 1986, the University decided to establish a series of lectures in honour of Lindahl’s contributions to economic science. 

The 2022 lectures will be given by Professor Henrik Kleven, Princeton University. The theme of the lectures is "New Approaches to Labor Supply Estmation: Children, Policies, and Norms". 

The 2017 lectures were given by Professor Claudia Goldin, Harvard University. The theme of the lectures was “Career and Family: Collision Course or Confluence of Desires?”.

The 2013 lectures were given by Professor Thomas Piketty, Paris School of Economics. The theme of the lectures was “Inequality and Capitalism in the Long Run”.

The 2010 lectures were given by Professor Ernst Fehr, University of Zurich. The theme of the lectures was “Origins and Determinants of Human Preferences”.

The 2008 lectures are were given by  Professor Lars E O Svensson, Deputy Governor, Sveriges Riksbank. The theme of the lectures was "Monetary Policy in Theory and Practice".

The 2006 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor Sir Richard Blundell, University College London. The theme of the lectures was "Evaluating Welfare Reforms".

The 2004 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor Edward L. Glaeser, Harvard University. The theme of the lectures was “Cities, Agglomeration, and Spatial Equilibrium”.

The 2002 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor Timothy Besley, London School of Economics. The theme of the lectures was “Principled Agents? The Political Economy of Good Government”.

The 1999 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor Peter A. Diamond, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The theme of the lectures was “Social Security Reform”.

The 1996 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor Agnar Sandmo, Norwegian School of Economics. The theme of the lectures was “The Public Economics of the Environment”.

The 1993 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor the Lord Mervyn King, London School of Economics. The theme of the lectures was “Financial Markets and Economic Policy”.

The 1991 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz, Columbia University. The theme of the lectures was “The New Welfare Economics: Public Policy in the Presence of Asymmetric Information”.

The 1989 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor Sir Anthony B. Atkinson, London School of Economics. The theme of the lectures was “Public Economics in Action. The Basic Income/Flat Tax Proposal”.

The 1987 Lindahl Lectures were given by Professor Dale W. Jorgenson, Harvard University. The theme of the lectures was “Tax Reform and the Cost of Capital”.
