Research at the Department of Economics
The Department of Economics at Uppsala University is a modern economics department particularly strong in the areas of labour economics, macroeconomics, political economics and public economics. Other areas of research include development economics, econometrics, family economics, financial economics and health economics.

The 2022 Lindahl Lecture was held by Henrik Kleven of Princeton University.

Research centers
The Department of Economics hosts three research centers, the Uppsala Center for Labor Studies (UCLS), the Uppsala Center for Fiscal Studies (UCFS) and the Uppsala Immigration Lab (UIL). In addition, the Department is also an active member of the Health Economic Forum at Uppsala University (HEFUU) and the Urban Lab, hosted by Uppsala Clinical Research center and the Institute for Housing and Urban Research (IBF) respectively.
