Courses - Department of Economics

Economics A aims to give a comprehensive introduction to how economics can be used to analyse different societal issues. Economics A is taken as course package and consists of the courses Principles of Micro- and Macroeconomics (15 ECTS-credits), Applied Microeconomics (7.5 ECTS-credits) and International Macroeconomics (7.5 ECTS-credits). These courses are taken full-time and the language of instruction is Swedish.

Economics B aims to give the student more in-depth knowledge in the major fields of economics (i.e. micro and macro theory), but also in a number of more specialised fields such as financial economics and development economics. Economics B is taken as a course package and consists of the mandatory course Microeconomics and Applications(15 ECTS-credits) plus two electives. The electives offered are usually Finance (7.5 ECTS-credits), Macroeconomics (7.5 ECTS-credits) and Economics of Development (7.5 ECTS-credits). The mandatory course is taken full-time during the first half of the semester. The language of instruction is Swedish. The electives are taken at half-speed during the second half of the semester. The language of instruction for these courses is either Swedish or English.

Economics C aims to give the student in-depth knowledge within a number of specialised fields and also lets the student write an undergraudate thesis. Economics C is taken as a course package and consists of two electives plus the mandatory course Thesis Work (15 ECTS-credits). The electives offered are usually Analysis of Economic Data(7.5 ECTS-credits), Labour Economics (7.5 ECTS-credits) and Public Economics (7.5 ECTS-credits). The electives are taken at half-speed during the first half of the semester. The language of instruction is either Swedish or English. The thesis is written during the second half of the semester.
